    HISTORY :

Indonesian vanilla beans are produced mainly from the Vanilla planifolia variety, also known as Bourbon vanilla.

Vanilla cultivation in Indonesia began in the 1800s, but it only really took off at the beginning of the 20th century.

Indonesian vanilla beans are known for their rich and complex aroma, with notes of chocolate, caramel, and red fruits.

Indonesian vanilla beans are grown mainly in the provinces of Java and Sumatra.

Vanilla cultivation in Indonesia is generally carried out on a small scale by independent farmers.

Indonesian vanilla beans are generally harvested at maturity and undergo a drying and roasting process to develop their aroma.

    CULTIVATION :

    • Vanilla plants are grown from seeds or cuttings.

    • Vanilla plants are then transplanted into greenhouses or open fields, where they need a number of specific conditions to thrive, such as a hot and humid tropical climate, direct sunlight, and well-drained soil.

    • Vanilla flowers must be hand-pollinated, as there are no insects to do it naturally in vanilla growing areas.

    • It takes about 9 months for vanilla pods to mature after pollination.

    • Vanilla beans are then picked at maturity, then treated by maceration and drying to develop their aroma and flavor.

    • Vanilla Planifolia is considered to be one of the most expensive and rare varieties of vanilla because it is a laborious and time-consuming process to cultivate.
